Bio
Jonathan Pinckney is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at Dallas and the principal investigator of the Pinckney Research Lab. His research focuses on civil resistance, democratization, and peacebuilding, with particular attention to the post-transition period and the conditions that produce durable democratic outcomes.
He is the author of From Dissent to Democracy (Oxford University Press, 2024) and When Civil Resistance Succeeds (ICNC Press, 2018). His work has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research, and elsewhere.
Before joining UT Dallas, he held positions at the United States Institute of Peace and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
